Confidence & Self-Esteem
Learning an instrument, singing a song or reaching a new musical goal creates a genuine sense of achievement. Encouragement and celebrating progress help confidence grow.
Accessible, personalised music tuition for children and young people with Special Educational Needs in a supportive and welcoming environment.
At Templesprings, we believe every child and young person should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of music.
Our funded SEN music lessons provide accessible, personalised tuition for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. Lessons are adapted to each learner’s needs, interests and abilities, helping them develop musical skills, build confidence and enjoy making music.
Music creates enjoyable, motivating opportunities to practise communication, concentration, coordination and connection.
Learning an instrument, singing a song or reaching a new musical goal creates a genuine sense of achievement. Encouragement and celebrating progress help confidence grow.
Singing, rhythm, movement and instruments offer creative ways to communicate - especially for learners who may find verbal communication challenging.
Listening, following instructions, remembering patterns and staying engaged can strengthen focus in an enjoyable and motivating way.
Playing instruments and moving to music give learners opportunities to practise rhythm, hand-eye coordination and both fine and gross motor skills.
Making music with others encourages listening, turn-taking and cooperation while creating a valuable sense of connection and belonging.
Most importantly, music is fun. Learners can explore their creativity, discover new interests and experience the joy of music while feeling included and supported.
Every learner is different, so our approach is flexible, patient and personal.
We have adapted the teaching environment to reduce overstimulation and create a calm, safe place to learn. Our tutors work at the learner’s pace, using specialist equipment and sensory musical experiences that suit their interests, abilities, sensory needs and preferred ways of engaging.
★★★★★“My son has autism and ADHD. That means he needs someone that understands his unique learning style and can adapt their teaching to suit. John has been working with him for a few months and I must say, my son looks forward to every lesson. John is Autism trained which comes through in the way he interacts with my son which in turn means every lesson is not just enjoyable but productive. Thank you Templesprings and John for your support.”
